Tagged again.................

Ok.........I'm going to cheat (shhhhh....don't tell!) since I have already done this last year, so I'm using my same 5 random things for those of you who didn't see mine the first time I got tagged.

5 Random Facts about myself...............

1. I played the snare drum in my high school band.

2. I was married at the age of 17.

3. I will be celebrating my 31st wedding anniversary on New Year's Day. What a big mistake that was, picking that date to get married! I bet you can guess what my hubby does all day long........every year.......on our anniversary? Can we say FOOTBALL? And I get to fix sauerkraut and pork with mashed potatoes................LOL!

4. My mom married a man who came from a family with 3 sons (No daughters). I married a man that came from a family with 3 sons. My daughter "almost" married a man that came from a family with 3 sons.....lol

5. I have never been on an airplane my entire life...............but that is about to change come this April, when I will fly to California from Ohio with some very dear friends of mine. Then, we will meet up with some more dear friends from my Ebay group Pfatt to have what we call a Pfatt Fest! It will be our third one. I can't wait to meet some of my fellow sisters who I only know from chatting with on the internet. We are going to have THE best time of our lives! I'm counting the days!!!!!!!!! =o)

A New Adventure...............

I mentioned in my last post that I had purchased some of the chunky little framed canvases from Dick Blick to play around with. I also mentioned being intimidated by them and afraid to start a project with them.....LOL Well I picked up the brushes and started to paint after thinking about what subject I wanted to go with on my first one. The little chunky 4x4's are so tiny that I decided to go with just a head...............

Around the outer edge, I cut and paste little penny rug tabs from an early 1900's book............

I then added little paper punched flowers and hand painted the leaves and stems.........

And last but not least, I gave her a face...................

Oh what fun she was to make! I've titled this one The Pumpkin Queen's Garden. Now I'm excited to create more!! =D This little one will be listed on eBay tomorrow evening. I'll be back to post her link after she goes on.

Thanks for viewing my little work in progress!

Frosty Valentine Sparkles..............

I listed this little girl on EBay this evening. She is now one of my all time favorite tags. These have become so much fun to create........like little miniature works of art.

Click here to see her EBay auction............

.................but something that I finally ordered arrived in the mail today. I wanted them for the Pfatt Tuesday listing but they didn't make it in time. So today they finally made it here.......a box of small 4x4 and 6x6 chunky stretched canvases! And I am intimidated! Afraid to start on one.......I want to make sure that I pick something that won't be too hard and I won't screw up! LOL These cost more than my paper hang tags do.........hahaha! SO now...............I sit back and take a few days to think about what my first one will become. Joyce...................I think you might have to push me to help get me started! LOL OH............and yours are here too and you're gonna LOVE the little 4x4's! We should have ordered a set for each of us!

Dick Blick............we'll be back! Hahahaha!!!!!!!

Little Red Riding Hood Tag on Ebay........

Another altered art tag for Ebay! My friend Joyce made a Little Red Riding Hood doll to sell on Ebay and I was inspired to make another little RRH tag. I've made them before but it's been a while. I've added the hand stitching of her name, the wolf paw prints plus the adorable little pewter basket like the one that she carries to grandma's house as a little extra added touch.

This print of LRRH was done by Jessie Wilcox Smith. She's one of my all time favorite illustrators! I love the softness of her paintings and the innocent look of the children from that time. Here's a link if you would like to read her biography..............

and here's some of her gorgeous work (in case you just like to look at pictures.....LOL).......

SNOW in O-H-I-O!!!!

And she's all bundled up for a winter outing with her little friend Tanner. I'm not really sure if she even likes the stuff! LOL Last year she was too little to take out in the snow and this year, there just hasn't been much of the fluffy white stuff. And when we do get some, it's gone within a few days!

Here in Ohio............you never know what the weather will be like from one day to the next. We had temps in the 60's just this past week! I'll tell you this global warming is really starting to hit home here. Scary thought.................=o(

So wherever you live, I hope you are getting the kind of weather that you're supposed to be getting and not somebody else's! =D

My Valentine Queen of Hearts tag on Ebay........

I'm having so much fun creating these hand painted tags for Ebay! I made some of these Queen of Hearts hang tags last year and decided I wanted to make another one. She's a bit different than last years. I always try to keep each of them a little different than the last. I'm one of those people that gets bored making the same thing over and over. Kind of takes the fun out of it.......LOL
I added more of the hand stitching to this one along with the vintage elements such as the paper in her crown and the vintage cream shoe button. I added some real silver glitter to her little paper crown. It will tarnish on it's own over time to a wonderful patina! I absolutely love this stuff! If you've never tried it before.....you must! You will love it!!!
I hope you have time to stop by and take a peek at her this week. Happy Valentine's Day.................

My Funny Valentine........Heart in Hand Tag

I listed this Valentine Heart in Hand tag last night on Ebay.

These tags are so much fun to create! I really like the look of the hand stitching around the outside edge of these tags. I try to use as many vintage items as I can, making each one that I create a One of a Kind treasure. =o) I always try to find vintage buttons and the paper that I use comes from a vintage early 1900's book. This one has a hand painted stitched on heart and the word "Love" in the center. The black trim on the cuff has little french knots done in cream colored quilter's thread.

The perfect and unique gift for your favorite valentine this Valentine's Day! One that you won't find in the Hallmark shop nearest you.......LOL I always say that the handmade gifts are the ones that you or someone you love will treasure the most for years to come. =o)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!
*Lori
